Following the first U Forum highly commended session on finance and investment, the second U Forum sharing session was launched on 7th May, focusing on overseas asset allocation and the latest trends of real estate investment and development. It is for the first time that we share the activity with online audience through the live video streaming platform Inke.
We were honored to have UCL alumnae Daphne Deng, UCL alumnus Architecture of RICS Bo Cui, SHUFE alumnus Clarles Li and the regional director of the East China Region for Dezan Shira & Associates Chet Scheltema as guest speakers in the event. The guest speakers shared their insights about the changes and prospects of real estate investment policies, the trends of urban real estate design, and directions of real estate investment in the future. The host, UCL alumni Trump Gu organized the Q&A session and the heated discussion.
Firstly, Clarles Li shared his own views on the trends of domestic real estate industry. Using “regulation, reform, development” as the key words, he discussed the policy and market environment of domestic real estate in 2016. He believed that it was the future of the real estate industry would provide a better quality of life to meet people’s culture and spirit needs
Secondly, Bo Cui introduced the diachronic changes of design trends in the urban development. Moreover, with vivid examples, he shared the way how contextualism as a kind of modern trend was embodied in city construction and urban renewal.
UCL alumna Daphne Deng, who worked for Shanghai Tongji Urban Planning and Design Institute for ten years, has been devoted into real estate development and investment in Cambodia after graduation from University College London in 2014. She shared her unique work experience, and analyzed the strategy of overseas asset allocation under the background of strong dollar. Furthermore, she introduced the real estate conditions and investment opportunities of Southeast Asian countries, especially Cambodia as one of the most friendly countries with China, with stable political situation and the most rapid economic development in Southeast Asia.
Finally, Chet Scheltema, who specializes in providing strategy and legal consulting of China and Southeast Asia for investors, also expressed his thinking of investment in real estate in Southeast Asia.
Sponsored by Daphne Deng, in drawing session, two lucky alumni who participated in the Q&A session won the special prizes including the flight tickets and luxury accommodation to visit Cambodia with the delegation, which the value exceed RMB 6800.
The event ended in free and enthusiastic discussion and communication with the tasty afternoon tea.
